The Bairnkine Team are trying hard to keep cool!

8 July 2026
Hannah, the sheep dog is in the trough cooling down

Well, we are all a little too warm this week. Even the dogs needed to cool off after moving sheep. We have been busy on sheepwork this week so are starting early before it gets too hot.

We even had guests staying at Owl Cottage this week that were delighted to be in Scotland where it was about 10 degrees cooler than their home in Suffolk.

It’s great seeing our guests sitting out enjoying the sun in the CL Site, taking a walk on the farm and enjoying the views or just catching up with us for a chat. Watch out for wet dog though!

More from the farm

August 2026

Our oatcake-making experience has been going really well. It’s proving to be a lovely way to share a little bit of our local food traditions and give guests the chance to get hands-on, using local ingredients and make their own oatcakes. There is even a chance at the end to enjoy a taster.

February 2026

Snowdrops, new cattle and ewes snug in the sheds — the first small signs of spring around the steading.

November 2025

Family time on the coast, new cattle, and the tups about to meet the ewes ahead of spring lambing.
