Hands on Oatcake Making

24 August 2026

Our oatcake-making experience has been going really well. It’s proving to be a lovely way to share a little bit of our local food traditions and give guests the chance to get hands-on, using local ingredients and make their own oatcakes. There is even a chance at the end to enjoy a taster.

We’re pleased to say that we intend to continue running the oatcake experience throughout the winter, so there will be plenty more opportunities to join us once the summer season has come to an end.

Hannah, the sheep dog is in the trough cooling down
July 2026

Well, we are all a little too warm this week. Even the dogs needed to cool off after moving sheep. We have been busy on sheepwork this week so are starting early before it gets too hot.

February 2026

Snowdrops, new cattle and ewes snug in the sheds — the first small signs of spring around the steading.

November 2025

Family time on the coast, new cattle, and the tups about to meet the ewes ahead of spring lambing.
