Guided farm tour

The Bairnkine Farm Tour

On the tour

Real farming, told by the family who do it

Join a relaxed, informative tour of Bairnkine Farm led by the Tile family. Hear how Lucy went from a ‘towny’ to a farmer (yes, it really can be done) and the farm’s organic story since 2005.

Find out why we’ve planted thousands of trees and miles of hedges to support wildlife. Take in panoramic views of the Cheviot Hills, see wool-shedding sheep and fattening cattle up close, and discover how the way we manage the farm benefits birdlife and biodiversity.

Tours run seasonally, with outdoor lambing from April and plenty of young lambs from late April through May. We’re also happy to arrange private tours in the autumn and winter, just get in touch.

What’s included

Why we do it

More than a visit

Our approach to farming is rooted in organic principles and a deep respect for the land, and we love sharing that with our guests. It’s not just about what we do, but why we do it: caring for the soil, our animals and the environment for future generations.

Most of all, it’s the personal connection that makes this experience memorable. You’re not just visiting a farm. You’re spending time with the family behind it, hearing our story and becoming part of it, even if just for a little while.
